The Committee for the Incorporation of Yorba Linda, California
The committee worked for the incorporation of Yorba Linda from 1959 to 1967. More than one attempt to bring the plan to a vote of the residents was made during that time. After two failed attempts and a court battle, the vote was finally made on 24 October 1967. Seventy-two percent of the 3,620 eligible voters turned out and two-thirds of them approved incorporation and elected a city council. Yorba Linda became the 25th city in Orange County with a population of 13,000 residents.
Over that period of eight years fourteen people have been identified as members of the group working to achieve the goal of incorporation. They are as follows:
William “Bill” Ross: President of the Yorba Linda Homeowners Association
Roy Knauft
Bill MacAndrews
William G. Paul
Jim Craig
William Carter
W. H. Barton
Ann Flatten (Mrs. Orris)
Bill Drake
Mrs. Roy Gant
Don Gervin
Bill Clay
Betty Christensen
Mrs. George Machado
